I live at 16 Waverly Avenue, 2 blocks away from Myrtle Avenue, where there are diners, hardware stores, banks, beauty salons, grocery stores, etc. I like this lifestyle where all the stores I could need are within walking distance. I do not need a car for anything.
My own street is sort of an industrial wasteland. There is a brand new upscale apartment place on the right, then a large Jewish Talmud school on the right, and a storage business on the left. My building is down at the end, on the left. It is sort of wonderful how quiet the street gets after 5 PM, when the businesses shut down. This is my street:
I am only beginning to decide how to decorate my place. I had forgotten how much work it is to move. It will be a good month or two before I am settled in. Some views below. I invite opinions about how to use the space.

The previous tenant was an artist named David. He built a bed in the front hall. I’m thinking I will section this area off with curtains, and this will be my guest room (in this first photo, I’m up on the mattress, looking toward my front door):

From my front door, if I look left, here is my front porch:
This is part of the view from my front door, looking across the street, to the left and then to the right. There are many mysterious buildings on this block, they look abandoned but they are in fact still used by businesses. Maybe for warehouse space?
If I walk across the street and turn to the left, I can see Manhattan in the distance:
